MONROVIA, Liberia — The Liberia National Red Cross Society, in partnership with the Monrovia Sinkor Omega Leo Club, marked Menstrual Hygiene Day with a series of outreach activities aimed at promoting awareness and supporting women and girls across the country.
The initiative began at Matilda Newport Junior High School, where students participated in educational sessions focused on proper menstrual hygiene management. Organizers also distributed sanitary pads to help improve access to essential menstrual health products and boost the confidence of young girls.

The awareness campaign emphasized the importance of menstrual health education, addressing common misconceptions and encouraging open conversations about menstruation in schools and communities.
As part of the observance, the Red cross team extended its outreach to the Maternity Center at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia. During the visit, 20 cartons of sanitary pads were donated to support mothers and women receiving care at the facility.

Organizers said the outreach reflects their commitment to promoting dignity, health, and equal opportunities for women and girls. They noted that access to menstrual hygiene products remains an important issue for many communities and requires continued support from stakeholders.
The activities formed part of the global Menstrual Hygiene Day campaign, which advocates for greater awareness, improved access to menstrual health resources, and the elimination of stigma surrounding menstruation.
Through education, advocacy, and direct support, the Liberia National Red Cross Society and the Monrovia Sinkor Omega Leo Club continue to contribute to building healthier and more inclusive communities across Liberia.
