MONROVIA, Liberia – The Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) officially ushered in a new era of leadership on Saturday as J.H. Webster Clayeh was inducted as President during the association’s 7th Induction Ceremony, where he unveiled an ambitious reform agenda aimed at strengthening journalism, improving reporters’ welfare, and promoting ethical media practice across Liberia.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Liberian Journalism Through Inclusion, Welfare and Reform,” the ceremony brought together journalists, diplomats, government officials, media executives, development partners, civil society organizations, and invited guests to celebrate a new chapter for the Reporters Association of Liberia.
The colorful ceremony was jointly hosted by Quincy T and Princess Alexa, who guided attendees through the day’s activities, including the certification of elected officials, the administration of the oath of office, goodwill messages from distinguished guests, and the inaugural address by the newly inducted president.
A New Beginning for the Reporters Association of Liberia
The induction ceremony marked the official transition of leadership following what participants described as a peaceful, transparent, and credible election.
The newly elected leadership received their official Certificates of Election from the President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), formally confirming their mandate to lead the association.

Following the certification, the Founder of Starz University administered the oath of office to the incoming officials.

Chinese Ambassador Commends Liberian Journalists
Among the distinguished guests was the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, who reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Liberia while encouraging Liberian journalists to continue reporting with professionalism, objectivity, and impartiality.
The Ambassador emphasized China’s vision of building “a community with a shared future for humanity,” describing the country as a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order.
Reflecting on China’s development journey, he noted that the Communist Party of China, founded in 1921 with just over fifty members, has grown into the world’s largest governing political party with more than one hundred million members.
“We welcome Liberian journalists to witness and record China’s ongoing journey with professional insight and objective, impartial reporting, presenting a true picture of China to the public and thereby fostering mutual understanding and deeper friendship between our two peoples.”
He concluded by congratulating the newly inducted leadership of the Reporters Association of Liberia and wished them every success.
Clayeh Accepts Leadership with Humility
Delivering his inaugural address, newly inducted President J.H. Webster Clayeh described his election as more than a personal achievement.

Outlining his administration’s priorities, Clayeh pledged to build a stronger, more inclusive, and responsive Reporters Association of Liberia anchored on the ceremony’s theme, “Shaping the Future of Liberian Journalism Through Inclusion, Welfare and Reform.”
He said his leadership will prioritize professional development, institutional reforms, and improved welfare for journalists while strengthening the association’s role as the leading voice for reporters across Liberia.
Among the key initiatives announced by the new president are:
- Establishing a nationwide secretariat network for the Reporters Association of Liberia.
- Creating a comprehensive national database of Liberian reporters to improve communication and coordination.
- Launching a Reporters’ Welfare and Emergency Support Fund to assist members facing illness and other genuine emergencies.
